Job summary

Rocket Staffing Group Ltd is seeking a PSV/HGV Mechanic in Chelmsford to join a permanent team. The role involves diagnosing and repairing vehicles, carrying out servicing, and responding to on-road breakdowns as needed.

Qualified candidates with Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds) and a flexible, multi-skilled mindset are preferred; a UK driving licence is required, with PCV licence support available if needed.

Qualifications

• Flexible approach to work with ability to multi-skill.
• UK driving licence (PCV is desirable; assistance to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
• Identify faults and specify correct repair methods and parts.
• Perform routine servicing and vehicle examinations using data capture devices where applicable.
• Attend on-road breakdowns and recoveries when required.
• Road-test vehicles to identify defects after repairs.

Job description

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: Chelmsford

Contract: 39 per week (permanent + overtime available)

Working Hours: 4 days out of 7 (including weekends) on a rotation of early shifts 05:00-15:00 and late shifts 14:30-00:30

Salary: £24.37 per hour and £25.42 as the weekend premium hourly rate, £49,422 per annum with the potential to earn around £4000 extra with weekend premium

About the Role

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic for our client in Chelmsford PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from Light Vehicle qualified candidates and ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
• Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable
• Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries where required
• Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair

About You

• Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair?
• Do you have a flexible approach to work with the ability to multi skill?
• Are you a UK driving license holder? A PCV license is desirable however we can help you achieve this
