FirstGroup plc is hiring a NVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic for the Great Yarmouth Depot at Caister Road. The role involves diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, servicing and breakdown support, with shift rotation and a £3,000 joining bonus.

The position requires a valid UK driving licence and a proven mechanical background in PSV/HGV or related automotive sectors. A weekend premium and minimum 39 hours per week are in place.

Formación

• Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair is required.
• Experience on HGV or PSV is desirable.
• UK driving licence is required.

Responsabilidades

• Diagnose faults, perform mechanical repairs and replace parts to keep vehicles safe and reliable.
• Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance; respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries.
• Road test vehicles as required and ensure all documentation complies with regulations and health & safety standards.

Position

PSV/HGV Mechanic. Location: Caister Road, Great Yarmouth, NR30 4DF. We are now looking for an NVQ Level 3 (or C&G equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Great Yarmouth Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details

• £21.55 per hour
• Weekend premium rate available 5 days over 7 (including weekends)
• Minimum 39 hours per week
• Rotation of early and late shifts
• £3,000 joining bonus!

Responsibilities

• In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed.
• You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries.
• You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?

Joining Bonus

• *Joining Bonus - terms apply. Paid in two instalments, first after your 4 month probationary period is completed, second after completion of 12 months in your role. Available to new team members joining us for the first time or returning to us after more than 12 months.
