Job Opportunity: Consultant General Surgeon at Dr Gray's Hospital

The Surgical Unit at Dr Gray's Hospital, NHS Grampian, is seeking to recruit one substantive Consultant General Surgeon to join a team comprising 2 Consultant General Surgeons, 2 Specialist Doctors, and 1 Associate Specialist. This is a full-time position (10 PA's).

Dr Gray’s Hospital is located in Elgin, Moray, an area renowned for its natural beauty, high quality of life, excellent schools, affordable housing, and recreational facilities.

The hospital serves approximately 132,000 residents and offers emergency and elective General Surgical Services, including some Paediatrics and Urology, within the hospital and at selected community hospitals. The hospital maintains strong links with Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a Tertiary Referral and Major Trauma Centre. Supporting staff include 2 Specialist Trainees, 1 Core Trainee, and 4 Foundation Doctors. The hospital has an academic partnership with the University of Aberdeen, involving 4th and 5th-year medical students.

The successful candidate must have a breadth of experience in Elective and Emergency General Surgery, including some Paediatrics and Urology.

Qualifications and Registration

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise is required, which must be in place prior to starting.
• Applicants trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of interview.
• Alternatively, candidates may possess a CESR / CESR (CP).

Applicants without GMC Specialist Register listing but with appropriate specialist training and experience may be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months). During locum employment, applications for CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
