The Surgical Unit at Dr Gray's Hospital, NHS Grampian, wishes to recruit one substantive Consultant General Surgeon to join a team of 2 Consultant General Surgeons, 2 Specialist Doctors, and 1 Associate Specialist. This is a full-time position (10 PA's).
Dr Gray’s Hospital is located in Elgin, the county town of Moray, an area known for its outstanding natural beauty. The position offers a high quality of life, excellent schools, affordable housing, and superb recreational facilities.
The hospital serves approximately 132,000 people and provides emergency and elective General Surgical Services within the hospital and at selected community hospitals. It has strong links with Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a Tertiary Referral and Major Trauma Centre. Supporting staff include 2 Specialist Trainees, 1 Core Trainee, and 4 Foundation Doctors. The hospital has a strong affiliation with the University of Aberdeen and hosts 4th and 5th-year medical students.
The role requires experience in Elective and Emergency General Surgery, including some Paediatrics and Urology.
Applicants trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview.
Alternatively, candidates should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience not listed on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a Locum Consultant position (up to 12 months) if no substantive appointment is made. During locum employment, applications to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be submitted.
