Job summary

LGC Group's National Measurement Laboratory seeks an ambitious scientist to advance protein mass spectrometry-based analysis for government and private sector R&D contracts.

You will lead the development of protein characterization workflows, collaborate with national partners, and contribute to high-impact publications and reports. Strong communication and project-management skills are essential for successful delivery.

Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent) in industry, academic, or clinical research.
• Expertise in protein structure characterization methods involving MS (HDX-MS, native MS, IMS, XL-MS).
• Development and optimisation of protein characterization methods (intact mass analysis, peptide mapping).
• Experience with quantification of peptides and proteins is desirable.
• Solid knowledge of protein chemistry, sample preparation, and handling.
• Experience with protein separation/purification (HPLC, SPE, dialysis).
• Proficiency with MS instrumentation operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver challenging R&D work with quality and budget in mind.
• Lead protein/metrology projects using MS for structural analysis.
• Publish and disseminate scientific results.
• Support in formulating R&D contracts and proposals.
• Collaborate with external partners to extend the metrology network.
• Deliver ad-hoc projects and provide comprehensive results reporting.
