SSE is seeking a Protection Planning Engineer to join the In-House Delivery and System Modelling team, supporting the Southern Distribution Network. You will handle protection coordination studies and develop relay settings across 6.6kV–132kV networks, ensuring safe, reliable operation and strong technical guidance to clients and colleagues.

You will produce detailed protection study reports, review designs and ensure compliance with engineering standards, with travel and a base location

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and strong understanding of power systems.
• Experience with load flow, short circuit and protection coordination studies.
• Knowledge of Protection and Control design across 11kV/33kV/132kV networks.
• Experience developing protection relay calculations and relay settings.
• Familiar with UK electrical engineering standards and safety.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out protection coordination and relay setting studies using power system modelling tools.
• Analyze network faults and disturbances to identify issues and drive improvements.
• Provide technical support on protection settings and network performance.
• Produce protection study reports with recommendations and documentation.
• Review designs including protection philosophies and relay configurations for standards compliance.
