SSE plc is recruiting a Protection Planning Engineer to join the In-House Delivery and System Modelling team, supporting the Southern Distribution Network. The role involves protection coordination studies across 6.6kV–132kV, developing relay settings, analysing faults and producing high‑quality reports for internal and external stakeholders, with 50% of work week in Portsmouth or nearby locations.

Regular travel and a strong commitment to safety and UK engineering standards are essential.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in load flow, short circuit and protection coordination studies.
• Knowledge of 11kV/33kV/132kV networks and protection design.
• Experience developing relay calculations and configuring relay settings files.
• Strong adherence to UK electrical engineering standards and safety.

Aufgaben

• Carry out protection coordination and relay setting studies using power system tools.
• Analyze faults and disturbances to support continuous improvement.
• Provide technical support to internal and external customers on protection settings.
• Produce protection study reports and technical documentation.
• Review designs including protection philosophies and relay configurations.
