Job summary
SSE is seeking a Protection Planning Engineer to join the In-House Delivery and System Modelling team, supporting the Southern Distribution Network. You will carry out protection coordination studies across voltage levels from 6.6kV to 132kV, develop relay settings, and provide technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience with load flow, short circuit and protection coordination studies
- Knowledge of Protection and Control design for 11kV/33kV/132kV
- Experience configuring relay settings files
- UK electrical engineering standards and safety requirements
Responsibilities
- Carry out protection coordination and relay setting studies using power system modelling tools.
- Analyze faults and disturbances to support improvements.
- Provide technical guidance on protection settings and network performance.
- Produce protection study reports and technical documentation.
- Review designs including protection philosophies and relay configurations for standards compliance
