Job summary

SSE is seeking a Protection Field Engineer in Scotland to support a capital delivery programme on the Transmission network and maintain protection and control systems. The role may require travel to various locations and occasional site work due to 24/7 network needs.

You will work with a team of engineers on technical tasks, wiring and commissioning activities, and fault-finding to ensure reliability and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

Technical qualification to City & Guilds/SVQ level.
Experience with protection and control panels in substations.
Ability to read protection schematics and wiring diagrams.
Experience with testing and fault-finding on secondary wiring.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to multiple locations.

Responsibilities

Support a team of Protection and SCADA Field Engineers by assisting with technical tasks.
Carry out protection and control panel wiring and commissioning activities.
Perform basic protection relay testing and fault-finding.
Ensure multicore cabling and panel works meet specifications.
Maintain stores, manage inventory, and assist with calibration and logistics.
