Job summary
SSE is seeking a senior Network Engineer to lead Substation design and the technical authority for transmission projects in Scotland. The role requires governance of design, standards and supplier engagement to ensure safe, reliable network performance.
You will manage a Substation Team, drive design reviews, and maintain specifications while coordinating with ENA/IEC/CIGRE groups and industry bodies. An engineering degree and Chartered status are expected.
Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
- Experience leading a team of subject-matter experts.
- Proven expertise in design, construction and installation of transmission substations.
- Knowledge of national and international standards and writing technical specifications.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Substation Team including workload, recruitment, development and line management.
- Lead design reviews as the Design Authority for project proposals.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and guidance notes for substation design.
- Review test plans and assess equipment and suppliers for transmission network use.
