Job summary

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks invites an experienced Protection & Control Engineer to join the SSEN Protection & Control Team. You will develop MC&P diagrams, review third-party designs for 11kV–132kV networks, and specify protection equipment while ensuring timely, compliant solutions.

You will lead detailed designs, perform grading studies and interact with commissioning and FAT processes, contributing to safety and reliability as part of a large electricity infrastructure program.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
Experience with Distribution Networks from 11kV to 132kV, ideally UK.
Protection & Control design experience incl. 11kV/33kV/132kV.
Experience with protection relays, relay panels, CTs/VT sizing, grading studies, schematics.
Strong knowledge of UK electrical standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Develop scoping documentation and MC&P Diagrams.
Review P&C designs from third parties for 11kV, 33kV, 132kV networks.
Specify P&C equipment such as relays, CTs and VTs.
Produce detailed designs including AC/DC schematics, protection grading studies.
Review commissioning plans, attend panel meetings, witness FAT and on-site commissioning as required.
