Job summary

AM Healthcare Group in Billericay is seeking a Prosthetist to join our service based at Mayflower Community Hospital, part of the Northeast London contract. You will work with a large clinical team to manage a complex caseload and contribute to service improvements.

You will assess patients, develop personalised orthotic treatment plans and stay up to date with advances in orthotic technology and practices. A proactive, collaborative approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent required.
  • HCPC registered (UK).
  • Postgraduate qualification (MSc or equivalent) in a clinical area.
  • Practice educator training preferred.
  • BAPO and ISPO membership advantageous.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in MDT clinical environment and complex caseload.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers autonomous, patient-centred care, independently managing routine and moderately complex cases.
  • Applies clinical reasoning for device design, fitting and adjustment.
  • Engages in CPD through self-directed study, training.
  • Contributes to audits, service evaluations and research activities.
  • Manages clinical equipment and resources with cost-awareness.
  • Adheres to prescription guidelines for safe patient care.
  • Plans caseload to meet service delivery targets.
  • Mentors staff and supports student/apprentice placements.
  • Maintains accurate clinical records and participates in quality improvement.
  • Maintains mandatory training and works collaboratively.

Job summary

We are currently seeking a Prosthetist who is looking for an opportunity to develop their career at our service based in Billericay. Working alongside a large team of clinicians, the role will involve working with a complex clinical case load and will be instrumental in developing and implementing service improvements for the betterment of patients in the Northeast London contract based in Mayflower Community Hospital. We aim to deliver a first class service for users whilst applying the most advanced clinical and technical solutions available to patients.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality care for all patients and the smooth running of the service.
  • Working closely with MDTs.
  • Inputting and leading on initiatives within the service development plan.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessment of patients to determine their orthotic needs.
  • Develop and implement personalised orthotic treatment plans.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in orthotic technology and practices.
  • Provide excellent patient care, education, and support throughout the treatment process.
  • Assessing, measuring, casting, fitting, suppling, reviewing and adjusting orthoses as required.
  • Maintaining appropriate clinical notes.
Skills & Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience of complex casework in adult and paediatric care.
  • Self-starter with a flexible and pro-active approach.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships through effective verbal and written communication.
Qualifications
  • Full HCPC Registration
  • A valid UK Driving Licence
  • The ability to meet the requirements of an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service DBS Check

  • BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including formal and informal communication
  • Proven record of working within an active, fast paced clinical environment
  • Experience of having collaborative role in an MDT environment

  • Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities
  • Experience with CAD/CAM or digital workflows.
  • Experience mentoring students or clinical staff.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and handle complex cases.
