Job summary

AM Healthcare Group is seeking a Prosthetist to join a large clinical team in the Billericay area. You will manage a complex caseload and help implement service improvements for patients under the Northeast London contract at Mayflower Community Hospital.

You will deliver patient-centred care, utilise CAD/CAM/digital workflows, and mentor junior staff while maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to DBS and HCPC requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in prosthetics/orthotics or related field.
  • Strong communication to build relationships and work in MDT.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM or digital workflows.
  • Experience mentoring students or staff in clinical settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver autonomous, patient-centred care for routine and moderately complex cases.
  • Apply clinical reasoning for device design, fitting and adjustment.
  • Mentor junior staff and support student placements.
  • Contribute to audits, service evaluations, and quality improvement.

Job description

We are currently seeking a Prosthetist who is looking for an opportunity to develop their career at our service based in Billericay.

Working alongside a large team of clinicians, the role will involve working with a complex clinical case load and will be instrumental in developing and implementing service improvements for the betterment of patients in the Northeast London contract based in Mayflower Community Hospital.

We aim to deliver a first-class service for users whilst applying the most advanced clinical and technical solutions available to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivers autonomous, patient-centred care, independently managing routine and moderately complex cases, and seeking guidance for more challenging situations.
  • Applies sound clinical reasoning and experience across patient groups to ensure accurate device design, fitting, and adjustment using clinical and technical skills.
  • Engages in continuous professional development through self-directed study, literature review and participation in relevant training.
  • Contributes to audits, service evaluations and research activities with guidance as needed, supporting data collection and reflective learning.
  • Manages clinical equipment and resources responsibly, with awareness of cost-effectiveness and service sustainability.
  • Adheres to clinical prescription guidelines to ensure safe, effective and appropriate patient care.
  • Effectively plans and prioritises caseload to meet service delivery targets, managing time and multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic clinical environment.
  • Mentors less experienced staff, supports student and apprentice placements and actively participates in training and team learning.
  • Maintains accurate clinical records and contributes to audits and quality improvement initiatives to support safe, effective and continuously evolving patient care.
  • Maintains mandatory training, adheres to policies and procedures and works collaboratively within the team.
Skills & Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Proven record of working within an active, fast paced clinical environment
  • Experience of having collaborative role in an MDT environment
  • Working proactively and collaboratively in the team and wider trust
  • Interest in service development and/or evidence of involvement
  • Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM or digital workflows.
  • Experience mentoring students or clinical staff.Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and handle complex cases.
Qualifications:
  • BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent.
  • Full HCPC registration.
  • The ability to meet the requirements of an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Check
  • Full driving licence
  • Relevant MSc, or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical area.
