Job summary

AM Healthcare Group in the London area is seeking an experienced Orthotist to join the Orthotics service in Epsom, with three days on-site and two days at an additional clinic location. You will assess, prescribe and fit orthotic devices for diverse patient groups, work autonomously within your scope, and contribute to service development and training of graduates and students.

Essential qualifications include BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics and Orthotics and HCPC registration.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration required.
  • Experience in an MDT environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers autonomous, patient-centred care across routine and moderately complex cases.
  • Applies clinical reasoning for device design, fitting and adjustment.
  • Contributes to audits, service evaluations and research.
  • Manages equipment and resources with cost-awareness.
  • Maintains accurate clinical records and supports quality improvement.

Orthotist - South-West London Region

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Orthotist to join our team at an exciting time of growth and transformation.

This role will be predominantly based within the Orthotics service at Epsom, working three days per week, with two days per week based at an additional clinic location.

Epsom provides a varied clinical environment, including a specialist diabetic service and a school clinic, offering an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their experience across a diverse range of patient groups and clinical presentations.

As an HCPC registered clinician within Opcare, you will competently and confidently assess, prescribe, and fit orthotic devices for routine patient presentations, across a range of clinical settings. You will work autonomously within your scope of practice to manage appropriate interventions, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care. In addition to direct clinical responsibilities, you will actively contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives under guidance. In addition, you will support the professional development, mentorship, and supervision of graduate and undergraduate colleagues. All activities will be undertaken in line with NHS values and Opcare's commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivers autonomous, patient-centred care, independently managing routine and moderately complex cases, and seeking guidance for more challenging situations.
  • Applies sound clinical reasoning and experience across patient groups to ensure accurate device design, fitting, and adjustment using clinical and technical skills.
  • Contributes to audits, service evaluations and research activities with guidance as needed, supporting data collection and reflective learning.
  • Manages clinical equipment and resources responsibly, with awareness of cost-effectiveness and service sustainability.
  • Maintains accurate clinical records and contributes to audits and quality improvement initiatives to support safe, effective, and continuously evolving patient care.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills - including formal and informal communication
  • Proven record of working within an active, fast paced clinical environment
  • Experience of having collaborative role in an MDT environment
  • Working proactively and collaboratively in the team and wider trust
  • Interest in service development and/or evidence of involvement
  • Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities.
Desirable:
  • Experience with CAD/CAM or digital workflows.
  • Experience mentoring students or clinical staff.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and handle complex cases.
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent
  • HCPC registered
Desirable:
  • Completion of Opcare's graduate scheme (or similar)
  • Full driving licence
  • BAPO member
  • ISPO member
