Job summary

AM Healthcare Group seeks an experienced Prosthetist for our Crystal Palace centre at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Regional Specialist Rehabilitation Centre, Bowley Close. You will deliver patient-centred care, design and fit devices, and mentor Prosthetic students within a collaborative MDT setting.

You will maintain clinical records, participate in audits and CPD, and support service development in a fast-paced, supportive environment with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required to practice as a Prosthetist.
• Postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable.
• Experience with CAD/CAM or digital workflows is preferred.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Prosthetist to join our team at our Crystal Palace centre, based at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Regional Specialist Rehabilitation Centre, Bowley Close.

Working alongside an experienced team and the NHS multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will deliver high-quality prosthetic care while also supporting the development of Prosthetic students in a collaborative and patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivers autonomous, patient-centred care, independently managing routine and moderately complex cases, and seeking guidance for more challenging situations.
• Applies sound clinical reasoning and experience across patient groups to ensure accurate device design, fitting, and adjustment using clinical and technical skills.
• Engages in continuous professional development through self-directed study, literature review and participation in relevant training.
• Contributes to audits, service evaluations and research activities with guidance as needed, supporting data collection and reflective learning.
• Manages clinical equipment and resources responsibly, with awareness of cost-effectiveness and service sustainability.
• Adheres to clinical prescription guidelines to ensure safe, effective and appropriate patient care.
• Effectively plans and prioritises caseload to meet service delivery targets, managing time and multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic clinical environment.
• Mentors less experienced staff, supports student and apprentice placements and actively participates in training and team learning.
• Maintains accurate clinical records and contributes to audits and quality improvement initiatives to support safe, effective and continuously evolving patient care.
• Maintains mandatory training, adheres to policies and procedures and works collaboratively within the team.

Skills and Experience:

• Highly developed interpersonal skills – including formal and informal communication
• Proven record of working within an active, fast paced clinical environment
• Experience of having collaborative role in an MDT environment
• Working proactively and collaboratively in the team and wider trust
• Interest in service development and/or evidence of involvement
• Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities
• Experience with CAD/CAM or digital workflows.
• Experience mentoring students or clinical staff.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and handle complex cases.

Qualifications:

• BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent.
• HCPC registered.
• Relevant MSc, or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical area.
• Practice educator training
• BAPO member
• ISPO member
