A little more about your role…

As part of the strategic proposals team in the Property and Buildings business unit, the Proposal Manager will work closely with civil & structural, building services, and specialist disciplines to position WSP and win profitable business.

Reporting to the Sales and Strategic Growth Lead, they will participate in the capture planning process. Once allocated to an opportunity, the Proposal Manager will establish and manage the bid team, liaise with clients and partners, organize reviews & approval meetings, and submit proposals. They will lead the development of win strategies, tender planning, written responses, reviews, and response delivery, including handover to delivery teams of won opportunities.

The role may require UK travel.

Core Functions:
  1. Lead and manage bids as proposal manager or other roles depending on bid size and complexity.
  2. Produce high-quality written content.
  3. Ensure bid governance and review processes are followed.
  4. Support the bid capture planning process.
  5. Work with Prospect Directors to develop winning strategies.
  6. Assist in prospect qualification.
  7. Understand customer requirements and support accordingly.
  8. Convert operational and business development knowledge into proposals.
  9. Challenge proposals to optimize benefits and meet customer needs.
  10. Support lessons learned from bids and share best practices.
  11. Contribute to the development of the proposal team and its services.
  12. Gather market and competitor information for future use.
Requirements:
  1. Understanding of procurement processes in private and public sectors.
  2. Knowledge of the end-to-end business development process.
  3. Effective communication skills, collaborative approach.
  4. Successful bid management experience.
  5. Attention to detail and quality.
  6. Strong project and time management skills.

  8. Ability to handle large information volumes and manage workflows.
  9. Relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues.

Qualifications:
  • Degree qualification in a relevant field.
  • Minimum APMP Foundation certification.
  • IT literacy, especially in Desktop Publishing (InDesign).
  • Experience in engineering or construction.
Knowledge / Experience:
  • Experience in tendering within WSP markets.
  • Successful bid management record.
  • Understanding of bid governance, review processes, and commercial skills.
