Job summary

Siemens is seeking an experienced Proposals Engineer for our Electrification & Automation division in the UK. The hybrid role offers flexibility to base at Hebburn or Manchester, supporting tenders for Protection & Control projects with Transmission System Operators and EPC clients.

You will coordinate bid packages, work with engineering teams to translate customer needs into robust technical offerings and accurate budgets, and ensure timely responses through the tender lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in Tendering, Proposals or Bid Management.
• Ability to coordinate input from multiple technical specialists to meet deadlines.
• Strong understanding of commercial terms, pricing strategies and risk in tenders.

Responsibilities

• Support evaluation of ITT packages with sales and customer procurement.
• Coordinate proposals from pre-qualification to handover to contracts.

Location: Hybrid role, with flexibility to be based from our Hebburn or Manchester office.

As the leading supplier to the UK's power transmission networks, Siemens Electrification & Automation continues to grow at pace. To support this growth, we are looking for an additional experienced Proposals Engineer to join our experienced team. In this role you will be central in preparing tenders and helping us win complex Protection & Control (P&C) projects from Transmission System Operators and from Major EPC clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in our order-winning process, shaping complex P&C solutions and working closely with our Engineering teams to meet customer needs.

You will make a difference by:

• Work with the sales team and customer procurement to evaluate Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages.
• Preparation and co-ordination of proposals from pre-qualification, enquiry through to handover to the contract team (including preparation of calculation sheets and scope of supply documents).
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Sales and Procurement to ensure customer specifications are understood and translated into robust technical offerings and accurate budgets.
• Issue and respond to technical queries throughout the tendering process.
• Prepare, present, and obtain internal approval for tender documentation and pricing in line with tender processes and signature protocols.
• Consult legal and commercial teams on Terms and Conditions as needed to complete Tender documents.
• Arrange and chair tender reviews and handovers meetings in accordance with tender processes.

What skills and experience you will bring to the role:

• Demonstrated experience in a Tendering, Proposals, or Bid Management environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across different departments.
• Have a growth mindset to learn more about our P&C solutions and developing their professional skills within the role and the team.
• Able to coordinate input from different technical specialists and keep everyone on track to hit tight deadlines in a busy work environment.
• Good understanding of commercial terms, pricing strategies, and risk management on tenders.
• Ability to work across multiple tenders at different phases, meeting deadlines for each and communicating any challenges to achieve this.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Desirable:

• Prior experience working within Transmission, Distribution (DNO/IDNO), or regulated industrial sectors.
• Knowledge of Protection & Control (P&C) systems or the ability to quickly understand technical specifications and customer requirements.
• A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Commercial Management, or a related field
