Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking an experienced Proposals Engineer to prepare tenders for Protection & Control (P&C) projects within the UK market. You will work with Sales and Procurement to tighten bid packages and align technical solutions with customer needs, while ensuring robust budgets and compliant documentation.

The role is hybrid (Hebburn or Manchester) and requires strong collaboration with Engineering, Project Management and commercial teams to win complex tenders in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate ITT packages with sales and procurement.
• Coordinate preparation from pre-qualification to handover to contract team.
• Collaborate with Engineering, PM, Sales and Procurement to translate specs into offers.
• Respond to technical queries during tendering.
• Prepare and obtain internal approval for tender pricing and documentation.
• Engage legal/commercial teams on T&Cs as needed.
• Chair tender reviews and handovers meetings.

As the leading supplier to the UK’s power transmission networks, Siemens Electrification & Automation continues to grow at pace. To support this growth, we are looking for an additional experienced Proposals Engineer to join our experienced team. In this role you will be central in preparing tenders and helping us win complex Protection & Control (P&C) projects from Transmission System Operators and from Major EPC clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in our order‑winning process, shaping complex P&C solutions and working closely with our Engineering teams to meet customer needs.

You will make a difference by:

• Work with the sales team and customer procurement to evaluate Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages.
• Preparation and co-ordination of proposals from pre-qualification, enquiry through to handover to the contract team (including preparation of calculation sheets and scope of supply documents).
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Sales and Procurement to ensure customer specifications are understood and translated into robust technical offerings and accurate budgets.
• Issue and respond to technical queries throughout the tendering process.
• Prepare, present, and obtain internal approval for tender documentation and pricing in line with tender processes and signature protocols.
• Consult legal and commercial teams on Terms and Conditions as needed to complete Tender documents.
• Arrange and chair tender reviews and handovers meetings in accordance with tender processes.

What skills and experience you will bring to the role:

• Demonstrated experience in a Tendering, Proposals, or Bid Management environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across different departments.
• Have a growth mindset to learn more about our P&C solutions and developing their professional skills within the role and the team.
• Able to coordinate input from different technical specialists and keep everyone on track to hit tight deadlines in a busy work environment.
• Good understanding of commercial terms, pricing strategies, and risk management on tenders.
• Ability to work across multiple tenders at different phases, meeting deadlines for each and communicating any challenges to achieve this.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Prior experience working within Transmission, Distribution (DNO/IDNO), or regulated industrial sectors.
• Knowledge of Protection & Control (P&C) systems or the ability to quickly understand technical specifications and customer requirements.
• A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Commercial Management, or a related field
