Job summary

Leading Top 10 UK law firm in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Principal Associate to join its Real Estate Disputes team. You will handle complex property disputes for a prestigious client base and contribute to business development.

Hybrid working with clear progression to Senior/Principal level, you will supervise junior lawyers and work on High Court and tribunal matters, delivering high-quality advice and practical solutions.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years' PQE in Real Estate Disputes / Property Litigation.
  • Strong experience handling tribunal and court proceedings.
  • Excellent drafting and communication abilities.
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and contribute to business development.
  • Wamiliarity with managing own caseload and supervising juniors.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on prevention, management and resolution of real estate disputes.
  • Handle matters through negotiation, ADR, court proceedings and trial when required.
  • Manage own caseload and supervise junior lawyers.
  • Support partners on complex and high-value disputes and contribute to BD initiatives.

Senior Associate / Principal Associate - Real Estate Disputes

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Associate or Principal Associate to join the highly regarded Real Estate Disputes team of a leading Top 10 UK law firm in Birmingham.

This is a chance to become part of a nationally recognised practice with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice to a broad and prestigious client base. The team acts for investors, developers, public sector organisations, universities, healthcare trusts and charities on a wide range of complex property disputes.

The Opportunity

Working within a collaborative and growing national team, you will advise clients on the prevention, management and resolution of real estate disputes, handling matters through negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, court proceedings and trial when required.

The work is varied and intellectually stimulating, covering a broad mix of commercial property litigation with opportunities to gain exposure to residential and agricultural matters.

Typical matters include:
  • Commercial leasehold and freehold disputes
  • Possession and forfeiture claims
  • Lease renewals
  • Rent review disputes
  • Adverse possession claims
  • Rights of way and easement disputes
  • Option agreement disputes
  • Anti-social behaviour matters
  • Litigation in the High Court, County Court and Property Tribunals
  • Alternative dispute resolution, including mediation

You will manage your own caseload, support partners on complex and high-value disputes, supervise junior lawyers and play an active role in business development initiatives.

About You
  • 6+ years' PQE in Real Estate Disputes / Property Litigation
  • Strong experience handling tribunal and court proceedings
  • A broad range of commercial property dispute experience
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills
  • Outstanding drafting and communication abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and case management skills
  • A pragmatic and commercially focused approach to problem-solving
  • The ability to build strong client relationships and contribute to business development
  • A genuine enthusiasm for developing and growing a successful practice
