Job summary

NXTGEN is recruiting an Accounts Assistant for a fast-growing consultancy based in Norwich. This role blends core accounting duties with project finance and commercial reporting, offering exposure beyond traditional transactional work.

You will support a busy finance team, ensuring projects are set up correctly and financial performance is tracked throughout their lifecycle. Collaboration with project teams is essential to deliver accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within finance or accounting.
• Exposure to project-based work would be useful.
• Strong accounting fundamentals with an interest in commercial experience.

Responsibilities

• Setting up new projects within the ERP system, including budgets, coding and financial structures
• Updating project records following contractual, budget or scope changes
• Monitoring project costs, revenue, budget utilisation and key milestones
• Producing clear and timely project finance reports
• Supporting project invoicing, timesheet tracking and month-end activity
• Processing purchase invoices and maintaining supplier accounts
• Identifying incomplete or inaccurate information and working with stakeholders to resolve it
• Keeping project documentation and financial records accurate throughout the project lifecycle
• Supporting improvements to finance and project reporting processes
• Assisting the wider finance team with additional accounting responsibilities
