Job summary

The post requires strong governance, risk and compliance oversight, plus extensive experience delivering large-scale transformations in complex, multi-site environments. DV clearance is essential.

Qualifications

• Significant senior Project/Programme Management and leadership experience in construction, engineering or infrastructure
• Strong experience of managing change and delivering continuous improvement in a global, complex delivery environment
• Demonstrable experience of leading large-scale projects/programmes in the UK and overseas
• Exceptional commercial acumen and financial management skills
• Strong knowledge of governance, assurance, risk management and compliance
• Expertise in recognised methodologies such as PRINCE2, MSP or Agile
• Relevant professional accreditation, such as PMP, APM Chartered Project Professional or MSP Practitioner
• Desirable: experience working with or within a Strategic PMO, and a background in organisational transformation or continuous improvement leadership

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership, coaching and development to a team of project management professionals, including managing underperformance where needed
• Ensuring cross-functional projects and programmes are aligned to strategic objectives
• Providing senior direction, decision-making and issue resolution to maintain delivery momentum and manage risk
• Driving change, continuous improvement and delivery maturity across the function
• Working in partnership with the Strategic PMO to embed robust governance, assurance, risk and compliance frameworks
• Monitoring project performance and taking corrective action on non-compliance
• Championing best-practice methodologies and promoting standardised tools, templates and processes
• Managing senior stakeholders and influencing at executive level
• Assessing skills gaps and shaping training, recruitment and talent development plans

Duration: 6 months initial, with a possible 6-month extension

We're looking for a senior Project Management professional with strong Change/Transformation experience to lead the improvement of complex, large-scale programmes within a secure Government environment.
