The Capital Programmes Division is looking for a Project officer to join it Commercial and Compliance Team to provide back-office commercial support to the business.

The Division is part of the Growth & Development Directorate and is responsible for developing and delivering approximately £200m pa of Major and Minor Capital Programmes construction project across the city.

This role sits within the Commercial Performance & Compliance Team and is part of the Division’s Project Management Office. The team ensures, through proactive risk and assurance management, that the business is safeguarded and complies with the obligations under its contracts for the supply of goods and services. It is also responsible for all governance, process and procedures required to enable a clear and audit-able workflow, and allows clear visibility and reporting on financial arrangements, including accountability for departmental budget performance and project finance.

This Project Officer will be part of a team that ensures that the business complies with council's project management methodology and will be involved with the development of quality standards and quality reviews which will contribute to the successful management and delivery of projects on time, to budget and quality. The role will also support regular project reporting and risk management.

The successful candidate will understand risk management and will be able to maintain risk logs as well as being able to organise and deal with multiple tasks. Numeracy skills are required to collate, review, and record financial data. You will also need excellent communication skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders. The ability to analyse data and to use a variety of ICT packages, including Microsoft SharePoint, are essential. You will also need an awareness of public sector procurement, construction related contracts, and the construction Design & Management (CDM) 2015 regulations.
