Job summary

AO Retail Limited is seeking a WMS Project Manager to lead complex warehouse and logistics projects across Bolton and Crewe. You will partner with business owners, solution architects, and IT to design, build and deploy WMS solutions that drive real value.

You will own multiple projects, manage scope, timelines and budgets, and work with Operations and Supply Chain teams to align deliverables with business goals. The role requires hands-on governance, RAID management and clear reporting.

• Experience delivering technical logistics, supply chain and fulfilment projects end-to-end.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations and logistics workflows.
• Ability to translate operational needs into structured WMS requirements.

WMS Project Manager

Are you ready to lead the charge in logistics and fulfilment? As AO's WMS Project Manager, you'll be at the heart of delivering complex warehouse and logistics projects, making sure our operations run smoothly and our tech delivers real value. You'll work with business process owners, solution architects, WMS consultants, integrators and senior stakeholders to design, build and deliver solutions that make a difference. Here’s What You Can Expect To Be Doing. You'll own and deliver multiple WMS projects, keeping scope, timelines, budgets and quality on track. You'll manage dependencies across D365 modules and external systems, and work closely with Warehouse Managers, Operations Leaders, Supply Chain teams and IT to align deliverables with business goals. You'll challenge requirements to enforce standardisation, facilitate cross-team communication, support change management activities, and establish governance standards for scope, RAID management and decision-making. Clear documentation, transparent reporting and alignment with PMO standards are all part of your toolkit.

Requirements

• Proven experience delivering technical logistics, supply chain and/or fulfilment projects end-to-end
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, logistics processes and workflows
• Ability to translate operational needs into structured WMS requirements
• Experience in fast-paced, retail-focused environments
• Experience in strategic transformation programmes
• Skilled at managing third-party implementers, suppliers and offshore teams
• Confident stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
• Proactive governance, RAID management and communication abilities
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methods
• D365 WMS expertise: design, configuration, deployment, mobile device flows, wave templates, location directives, packing & shipping, inventory management
• Understanding of functional and technical elements (extensions, integrations, Power Platform)
• Support testing cycles (SIT, UAT) and ensure acceptance criteria reflect operational requirements
• Bonus points for knowledge of Azure DevOps, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, WCS/WES integrations, warehouse automation, and integration technologies like API, batch jobs and EDI
