Position status: We are growing our team in 2025 and are interested in speaking with experienced project managers with construction and project management experience. Please get in touch if you would like to hear about working with Mace.

At Mace, our purpose is to redefine the boundaries of ambition. We believe in creating places that are responsible, bringing transformative impact to our people, communities, and societies across the globe. To learn more about our purpose, culture, and priorities, visit our strategy site.

Within our consulting business, we harness our unique combination of leading-edge practical expertise and project delivery consultancy to unlock the potential in every project.

The project:

Our client is one of the largest water companies in the UK, responsible for water and wastewater services in England. Their purpose is to deliver their services in an environmentally sustainable, economically beneficial, and socially responsible manner, creating sustainable long-term value for all. We currently provide the client with a range of services focused on programme and project management and are always looking for opportunities to deliver more value through the provision of expert and strategic staff. The role involves planning and leading the successful delivery of a programme of works by an 'Area delivery team' comprising the client's partners and contractors, in line with their corporate values and requirements such as health and safety, target operating model, and outcomes related to regulation, customer service, and resilience. You will act as the interface between the delivery team and the business at a senior level, managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the capital programme in line with the business strategy.

Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey. They are:

  • Safety first - Going home safe and well: You will promote Mace's value of safety first, exhibit visible safety behaviors, share lessons learned, and support safety and wellbeing using Mace's HSW framework.
  • Client focus - Deliver on our promise: You will ensure quality systems are managed appropriately, deliver and manage project plans, support project lifecycle from inception to closeout, manage risks, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Integrity - Always do the right thing: You will manage project budgets, support the development of your business unit, and uphold the company's values by making positive impacts for people, clients, and the environment.
  • Create opportunity - For our people to excel: You will manage design and consultant teams, stakeholder relationships, and seek best practices to foster innovation and excellence.

Requirements:

  • A degree in engineering, construction, or project management, and membership of a relevant professional institute (e.g., ICE, IMechE, RICS). Completion of the APM PMQ course is required.
  • Based in the northwest of England, willing to travel to multiple sites. Water sector experience preferred but not essential; 10+ years project management experience required.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Oracle and Primavera P6. Full UK driving license is essential.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming candidates from all backgrounds. Flexible working options are available. For questions, contact paul.deaville@macegroup.com.
