Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee renewable energy projects from development through construction, commissioning and handover with Randburg as a central base and travel as required.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets beyond R100 million, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver on time while upholding safety standards.

A Bachelor's in Engineering is required; a Master's or PMP/Prince2 is desirable. Hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or related field.
• Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Minimum of 7 years of proven project management experience, with at least 4 years in renewable energy projects.
• PMP or Prince2 certification is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, project finance, and development processes.
• Experience managing project budgets exceeding R100 million.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and travel to project sites.

About the Role

Our client, a leading developer and operator of renewable energy infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects primarily in the Randburg, Gauteng area, with potential for travel. This role is crucial for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from initial development through to construction, commissioning, and handover. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project management, specifically within the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, or battery storage), coupled with exceptional leadership, planning, and stakeholder management skills. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Randburg location provides a central base for managing a portfolio of significant green energy initiatives across the province.
