Cardiff Council is recruiting a Project Manager to oversee pre-construction on new-build affordable housing schemes. You will coordinate in-house teams and external partners, ensuring delivery within timescales and budgets while upholding Welsh Government design quality standards.
The role supports hybrid working and requires site attendance as needed, with a focus on scalable, low-carbon housing delivery across the city.
Cardiff Council’s is delivering one of the most ambitious and exciting affordable housing programmes in Wales. Our homes are being delivered through a variety of procurement routes maximising our ability to provide affordable homes across the city.
Due to the on-going expansion of our development programme, we are seeking a Project Manager with a good level of experience at the Pre-Contract stages to join the team.
The post holder will project manage new-build schemes through the Pre-Contract stage. Ensuring we deliver the new homes we need across the city to help tackle the housing crisis. The post holder will work with our in-house teams and external partners to continually develop our housing in terms of affordability, design and specification. Working within designated timescales and budgets, you will ensure that we continue to deliver new homes at scale and pace, and to the challenging low/zero carbon standards expected of all new homes now and in the future.
We currently adopt hybrid working combing home working and attendance in the office. Furthermore, you will need to attend site meetings as necessary.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of managing capital projects through the pre-construction stages with a focus on the delivery of affordable housing. You will have good working knowledge of the current standards and requirements set by Welsh Government around Design Quality requirements and Social Housing Grant.
You must demonstrate a commitment to partnership working and building positive, productive working relationships. Experience in project managing capital programmes, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, commercial awareness and sound technical knowledge are prerequisites to the post
