Job summary

Amentum is recruiting an experienced Project Manager (Civils) to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team, supporting EDF Energy Nuclear Generation in the UK. The role is based predominantly at Sizewell B with potential for flexible working between site and home.

You will lead project delivery through the full lifecycle with a cross-functional team, maintaining safety, quality and schedule. A strong background in regulated nuclear projects is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering or related subject, chartership preferred.
  • APMP formal project management qualification or equivalent; familiar with complex multi-functional organisations.
  • Understanding of Safety Cases including CDM and related health & safety requirements.
  • Good understanding of quality needs and how quality is assured and controlled, including commercial, contractual, and financial drivers.
  • Demonstrable experience managing projects through full lifecycle across multi-discipline environments; leading integrated teams.
  • Experience with estimating, cost control, planning and commercial awareness including business cases and funding papers.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; familiar with scheduling, risk tools and Earned Value.
  • Experience of working at Power Stations and Nuclear Licensed Sites is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable to the client PPM for successful delivery of all project aspects; set execution strategy with client and use cross-functional teams to deliver safely within baseline.
  • Based at Sizewell B Power Station; occasional travel to other UK sites; report to Operations Manager while delivering to client.
  • Operate in highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture.
  • Communicate effectively and build relationships; maintain networks and deliver results with a team-focused approach.

About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting an experienced Project Manager (Civils) to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.


These are key role's within our project and engineering portfolio which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced project engineering management professionals within the business and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your project engineering management and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects.


You will be part of a large client-led team at Sizewell B Power Station and will be accountable to the client Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible, however the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station. Key responsibilities will be:

  • Project Managers are accountable to the client PPM for successful delivery of all aspects of their assigned projects. The Project Manager sets the project execution strategy in agreement with the client PPM and uses a cross-functional project team to deliver the project safely in line with company policies and procedures, achieving established goals and objectives within the agreed baseline. This role has no direct reports
  • The role will be based at the EDF Sizewell B Power Station and will require occasional business travel to other UK sites/stations. In this role you will report to the business Operations Manager but be accountable for project delivery directly to the client
  • Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture
  • Strong communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused tempered with a team-centred approach.


Qualifications

  • Degree educated, ideally in engineering or a related subject, with preferred Chartership
  • APMP formal project management qualification or equivalent and versed in modern project management techniques within complex, multi-functional organisations; have a thorough understanding and knowledge of engineering, design, procurement, safety case, construction and iinstallation / commissioning management and commercial contracting
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of Safety Cases including how they are developed and implemented, relevant Health and Safety and Environment legislation including CDM and the actions required to achieve compliance
  • Good understanding of the needs of quality and how quality is assured and controlled along with relevant experience of commercial, contractual, and financial project drivers
  • Demonstrable experience of managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle, ideally across a range of complex multi-discipline projects and environments, and management of an integrated project team including staff, agency and assigned functional support
  • Experience of estimating, cost control, planning and commercial awareness including the preparation of business cases and sanction/ funding papers
  • Experienced in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, be proficient in the use of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools and in the use of Earned Value tools. Analytical approach with high-level problem-solving ability
  • Experience of working at Power Stations and Nuclear Licensed Sites is preferred but not essential
