Job summary

Amentum, UK, is seeking a Project Manager for the Sizewell C civil works programme to deliver multi‑discipline projects safely and on schedule. You will lead cross‑functional teams, coordinate design and procurement, and manage interfaces across the project lifecycle.

The role requires Chartered status or equivalent PM expertise, with a strong background in nuclear or large industrial projects, and a focus on safety and delivery excellence.

Qualifications

  • Degree and Chartered status in Project management, Construction, Civil engineering, or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience managing major projects from concept to handover in a technically complex, safety-focused environment.
  • Success coordinating multi-disciplinary design/procurement work and driving teams to deliver on time.
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, process, systems or civil engineering for large industrial plants.
  • Procurement and management of complex contracts.
  • Control of costs, risk, schedule and change; proficient with Earned Value tools.
  • Project management or project engineering from concept to handover.
  • Close out of commercial claims and negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Take a global overview of the nuclear power plant SSCs within the programme.
  • Timely delivery of engineering studies by the RD or by key contractors and for ensuring they meet SZC needs.
  • Prepare post-FID contracts (terms, appendices, and technical specs).
  • Drive site‑specific design changes into the design deliverables.
  • Manage internal and external interfaces to ensure coordinated design and delivery.
  • Early engagement with stakeholders to identify obsolescence issues and other risks.
  • Manage the technical elements of procurement for specific contracts.
  • Ensure lessons‑learned are captured as business as usual.

About The Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.

Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. Working on Sizewell C as a Project Manager you will develop the skills and core nuclear understanding to be successful in the New Nuclear industry. You’ll be positioned to benefit from the near and long-term trend for Nuclear power providing the baseload to global energy needs. As a new Business Unit, you’ll be joining at a time of innovation and change, with opportunity to put your mark on the business and for this contribution to be recognised.

The Civil Works Programme comprises a series of projects that will be delivered over a 10-year period. Each element of the scope has been assigned to a combination of participants that will be responsible and accountable for the delivery. Key responsibilities will be:

  • Take a global overview of the nuclear power plant Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs) within their programme.
  • Timely delivery of engineering studies by the RD or by key contractors and for ensuring they meet the needs of the SZC project.
  • Prepare with the multidisciplinary team specific post-FID contracts (terms & conditions, contractual appendices and technical specification).
  • Drive the implementation of site‑specific design changes into the design deliverables in their programme.
  • Manage internal interfaces (between contracts and systems) and external interfaces (between programme scopes) to ensure a coordinated approach to design and delivery.
  • Early engagement with stakeholders (including equipment suppliers) to identify obsolescence issues and other risks to replication.
  • Manage the technical elements of the procurement process for specific contracts.
  • Ensure that lessons‑learnt and knowledge‑capture are practiced as business as usual.
Here’s What You’ll Need
  • Degree and Chartered status in Project management, Construction, Civil engineering, or other relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Project Management and working knowledge and management experience of construction activities.
  • Experience of managing major projects from concept to handover, throughout the project lifecycle within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security, and environmental responsibility.
  • Success coordinating multi-disciplinary design/procurement work and driving design/procurement teams to deliver on time
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, process, systems or civil engineering for large industrial plants
  • Procurement and management of complex contracts,
  • Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools,
  • Project management or project engineering experience, from concept to handover
  • Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
