Job summary

Sizewell C is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join the Nuclear Island Programme, supporting delivery across engineering, procurement, manufacturing and construction activities for critical workstreams.

Hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office or site; you'll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage interfaces, monitor progress against milestones, and contribute to cost, schedule and safety objectives in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Project Management / Assistant PM role in complex engineering or regulated environments.
  • Strong Excel and project reporting skills.
  • Background in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Process or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing priorities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience delivering projects within cost, schedule and quality objectives.
  • Understanding of project controls, governance, contract administration or commercial processes.
  • Experience managing interfaces, risks and dependencies in complex projects.
  • Proactive, organized and solutions-focused.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engineering, procurement, manufacturing and construction activities across the Nuclear Island Programme.
  • Coordinate project activities and engineering studies to ensure milestones and programme objectives are met.
  • Support development and implementation of delivery strategies across key workstreams.
  • Manage interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
  • Assist with project controls activities, including reporting, data management, KPI tracking and progress monitoring.
  • Support contract administration activities, including governance, correspondence, change management and document control.
  • Contribute to cost management, forecasting, cashflow monitoring and commercial performance.
  • Engage with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks and opportunities.
  • Support construction readiness, delivery sequencing, logistics planning and programme integration.
  • Assist with milestone planning and interface coordination across multiple teams.
  • Support delivery of contract packages to safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Promote collaboration and share lessons learned across multidisciplinary teams.

Assistant Project Manager (Nuclear Island)

Location: London or Bristol
Pattern of Work: Hybrid Working (typically 2-3 days per week in the office/site, depending on business needs)
Security Clearance: BPSS
Salary: £56,506

Benefits include:

The Opportunity

Sizewell C is one of the UK's largest and most ambitious infrastructure projects and is entering an exciting phase of growth as we continue progressing towards delivery of a new generation of low-carbon power.

We are looking for Assistant Project Managers to join our Nuclear Island Programme, supporting the delivery of engineering, procurement, manufacturing and construction activities across a range of critical workstreams.

Working alongside experienced Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, you will help coordinate complex projects, manage key stakeholder interfaces and support the successful delivery of systems, contracts and engineering packages. This is a unique opportunity to develop your project management career within a highly regulated environment while contributing to one of the UK's most significant clean energy projects.

Current Opportunities

We currently have two Assistant Project Manager opportunities within the Nuclear Island Programme, supporting different delivery areas and workstreams.

Whilst each role has a distinct focus, both positions require strong project delivery, coordination and stakeholder management capabilities. What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the delivery of engineering, procurement, manufacturing and construction activities across the Nuclear Island Programme.
  • Coordinate project activities and engineering studies to ensure successful delivery against key milestones and programme objectives.
  • Support the development and implementation of delivery strategies across key Nuclear Island workstreams.
  • Manage interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities to support integrated project delivery.
  • Assist with project controls activities, including reporting, data management, KPI tracking and progress monitoring.
  • Support contract administration activities, including governance, correspondence, change management and document control processes.
  • Contribute to cost management, forecasting, cashflow monitoring and commercial performance across assigned work packages.
  • Engage with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to identify, manage and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
  • Support construction readiness activities, delivery sequencing, logistics planning and programme integration.
  • Assist with milestone planning, interface coordination and the management of programme dependencies across multiple delivery teams.
  • Support the delivery of contract packages to agreed safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Promote collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, driving continuous improvement and the sharing of lessons learned.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience in a Project Management, Assistant Project Management, Project Engineering or Project Controls role within a complex engineering, infrastructure, construction or regulated environment.
  • Good analytical capability, proficiency using Microsoft Excel and project reporting tools.
  • Background in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Process, Systems Engineering or a related project delivery discipline.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams.
  • Experience supporting project delivery against cost, schedule and quality objectives.
  • Understanding of project controls, project governance, contract administration or commercial processes.
  • Experience managing interfaces, risks and dependencies within complex projects.
  • Proactive, organised and solutions‑focused approach.

Desirable

  • Experience within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry such as defence, energy, rail, aerospace or major infrastructure.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration.
  • Formal Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting EPC, EPCM or major capital projects.
  • Knowledge of construction delivery, programme integration and complex supply chains.
