Job description

ADE Power Ltd is a UK manufacturer and project delivery specialist providing bespoke power generation, switchgear, acoustic enclosure and critical infrastructure solutions. We design, manufacture, integrate and deliver complex engineered systems for customers across the UK and Europe, including projects within the data centre, utilities, industrial, infrastructure and standby power sectors. As ADE continues to grow its UK and European project capability, we are looking for an experienced and commercially aware Project Manager to take ownership of complex engineering projects from contract award through design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and handover.

Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of assigned projects from handover through to completion, commissioning and customer handover.
  • Manage multiple engineering/manufacturing projects at the same time, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, programme, budget and quality requirements.
  • Develop, maintain and control project programmes, project plans, risk registers, action trackers and reporting packs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, consultants, suppliers and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead internal project kick-off meetings, design reviews, progress meetings and project close-out reviews.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, logistics, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor project budgets, variations, cost movements, margin performance and commercial risks.
  • Identify, manage and escalation project risks, delays, technical issues and customer-driven changes.
  • Ensure technical documentation, drawings, specifications, inspection records, O&M manuals and handover packs are delivered to the required standard.
  • Support procurement and supplier management to ensure materials, equipment and subcontract packages are delivered in line with the project programme.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with ADE Power’s health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Support projects delivered through ADE Power’s UK and Spanish operations, including travel to European sites and facilities when required.
  • Provide clear and accurate project reporting to senior management, including progress, risks, costs, programme status and key decisions required.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes, lessons learned, communication and customer satisfaction.
Requirements

We are looking for someone who is structured, proactive and delivery-focused. The right person will be comfortable working in a fast-moving engineering environment where priorities can change and projects require close coordination across multiple departments and locations.

Person Specification
  • A strong communicator who can build trust with customers and internal teams.
  • Technically credible, with the ability to understand engineered products and project constraints.
  • Commercially aware and confident managing cost, scope and programme.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure and able to make practical decisions.
  • Comfortable travelling and working with teams across different locations, including Europe.
  • Motivated by ownership, accountability and successful project delivery.
  • Proven project management experience within an engineering, manufacturing, construction, power generation, switchgear, mechanical/electrical or critical infrastructure environment.
  • Experience delivering technically complex, bespoke or engineered-to-order projects.
  • Strong understanding of project programmes, budgets, risk management, change control and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, project documentation and contractual requirements.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, with the confidence to manage senior stakeholders, consultants and client project teams.
  • Commercial awareness, including experience managing variations, costs, project margins and contractual obligations.
  • Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple live projects and competing priorities.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project or equivalent project planning/reporting tools.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe as required.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience in power generation, diesel or gas generator packages, acoustic enclosures, switchgear, control systems, packaged plant rooms, modular buildings or data centre infrastructure.
  • Experience working on projects across Europe.
  • Spanish language skills, or previous experience working with Spanish suppliers, facilities or project teams.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, UK construction/site safety requirements and European project delivery environments.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, installation teams and commissioning activities.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Familiarity with NEC, JCT or similar contract forms.
Qualifications

Formal qualifications are important, but ADE Power will place equal value on proven experience delivering complex engineering projects, strong commercial discipline and the ability to manage customers, suppliers and internal teams effectively. The ideal candidate will hold a recognised project management qualification, supported by relevant engineering or construction experience. Suitable qualifications may include one or more of the following:

  • APM Project Management Qualification, APM PMQ or equivalent.
  • PMP certification.
  • HNC, HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS or equivalent health and safety qualification.
  • CSCS or equivalent site safety competence where relevant.
  • NEC4, contract management or commercial project management training would be advantageous.
