Job summary

Safran Electronics & Defense in Wolverhampton is seeking a Project Manager to lead aerospace actuation system programmes across the full lifecycle, ensuring delivery against cost, schedule, quality and regulatory requirements.

You will work with Engineering, Industrialisation, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality teams to drive programme execution and manage risks, while maintaining strong customer interfaces and governance standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing aerospace or defence programmes.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 or aerospace quality standards is preferred.

Working with cross-functional teams and customers, you will drive programme execution, manage risks and performance, and ensure successful delivery of innovative and reliable aerospace solutions.Key Responsibilities• Lead cross-functional programme teams across Engineering, Industrialisation, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to achieve programme objectives.• Manage programme scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resource plans to ensure delivery against agreed milestones and customer commitments.• Act as the primary interface with customers and key stakeholders, providing regular updates on programme performance and progress.• Identify, assess, and mitigate programme risks and issues, implementing corrective actions to maintain delivery targets.• Ensure compliance with aerospace regulatory requirements, company processes, and governance standards throughout the programme lifecycle.• Monitor and report programme performanceJob RequirementsWhat You'll BringEssential• Demonstrated experience in project management within an aerospace, defence, or high-value manufacturing environment• Strong knowledge of industrial and manufacturing processes, including production readiness and lifecycle delivery• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder environments• Experience managing project performance across cost, schedule, quality, and risk• Structured and methodical approach to planning, governance, and reporting• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels• Understanding of aerospace standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. AS9100)Desirable• Experience with actuation systems, electromechanical or hydraulic equipment• Formal project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, APMP)• Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI) and industrialisation phases• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and project management tools• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)Get involved:We also have a number of groups and forums across our sites that you can get involved with, including Women at Safran, Diversity at Safran, Sports Clubs, STEM ambassadors, Employee Forum, Charity Partnerships and Wellbeing Programs.But what else?
