Job summary

Matchtech is supporting an experienced Project Manager to lead high-voltage substation and T&D projects on a contract basis in the UK. You will oversee EPC delivery, coordinate stakeholders and ensure safety, on programme and in line with NEC contract requirements.

Responsibilities include managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules, while maintaining compliance with National Grid standards and industry regulations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager in transmission, distribution or energy sector.
• Experience delivering high-voltage substation projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and contract management principles.
• Experience on National Grid projects or with National Grid standards and processes.

• Lead EPC project delivery across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Administer NEC contracts, changes, risks, and reporting.
• Manage project programmes, budgets, resources and milestones.

• Ensure compliance with National Grid standards and health and safety requirements.
• Monitor performance and implement corrective actions.
• Provide clear progress reports and maintain communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support high-voltage substation and transmission and distribution (T&D) projects on a contract basis. The role will involve managing EPC delivery, coordinating project stakeholders and ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and in line with NEC contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the delivery of high-voltage substation and T&D projects from inception through to completion
• Leading EPC project delivery, coordinating engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities
• Administering NEC contracts, including change control, risk management, programme updates and commercial reporting
• Managing project programmes, budgets, resources and delivery milestones
• Coordinating contractors, suppliers, engineering teams and other project stakeholders
• Ensuring compliance with National Grid standards, health and safety requirements and relevant industry regulations
• Monitoring project performance and implementing corrective actions where required
• Providing clear progress reports and maintaining effective communication throughout the project lifecycle

Job Requirements

• Strong experience as a Project Manager within the transmission, distribution or wider energy sector
• Experience delivering high-voltage substation projects
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and contract management principles
• Previous experience working on National Grid projects or within National Grid standards and processes
• Demonstrable EPC Project Manager experience across complex engineering and construction projects
• Understanding of HV electrical infrastructure, construction activities and commissioning requirements
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong organisational, commercial and problem-solving abilities
