Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced Project Manager (HV/EHV) to join our Transmission & Distribution team delivering major electrical infrastructure across the UK. You will manage pre-construction through energisation on projects from 33kV to 400kV, including grid connections, substations, cables and overhead lines.

You will coordinate internal engineering teams, contractors and clients, ensure safety, time, budget and quality standards, and support projects across the full lifecycle from

Qualifications

• HNC in Electrical Engineering or above.
• Experience delivering HV/EHV projects from 33kV to 400kV.
• Proven track record managing substation projects through the full lifecycle.
• Knowledge of AIS/GIS substations, protection & control, transformers, cables, overhead lines.

Responsibilities

• Develop project requirements into compliant, cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Manage delivery of HV and EHV projects across cable, overhead line, plant, and civils disciplines.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Coordinate internal engineering teams, contractors, clients, and external stakeholders.
• Act as CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer where required.
• Manage commercial interfaces and oversee external service providers.
• Support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from feasibility and design through to commissioning and energisation.

Project Manager (HV/EHV)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager (HV/EHV) to join a growing Transmission & Distribution team delivering major electrical infrastructure projects across the UK. This role will see you managing pre-construction and construction activities from design through to energisation on large-scale transmission and distribution projects, typically ranging from 33kV to 400kV. Projects include grid connections, substations, underground cables, overhead lines, and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop project requirements into compliant, cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Manage the delivery of HV and EHV projects across cable, overhead line, plant, and civils disciplines.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Coordinate internal engineering teams, contractors, clients, and external stakeholders.
• Act as CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer where required.

What We're Looking For

• HNC in Electrical Engineering or above.
• Experience delivering HV/EHV projects from 33kV to 400kV.
• Proven track record managing substation projects through the full project lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of transmission and distribution infrastructure, including:
  • AIS & GIS substations
  • Protection & Control systems
  • Power transformers
  • Underground cables
  • Overhead lines
• Experience managing CAPEX and customer connection projects.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, earthing systems, and electrical clearances.
• Strong understanding of CDM regulations, health & safety requirements, and project governance.
• Ability to review and interpret technical design documentation.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
