Job summary

NHS Supply Chain is seeking a Project Manager to join the Commercial Medical Technologies team. You will support the Procurement Strategy Delivery Lead on complex projects and transformation efforts that improve performance and deliver value for patients and NHS customers.

The role offers hybrid working with two days per week in the Alfreton & Wakefield offices, a starting salary in the £47,874–£56,322 range, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Salary: Offered on a starting salary of £47,874 with the potential to increase up to £56,322 over the course of three years + additional benefits

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Commercial Medical Technologies team working closely with the Procurement Strategy Delivery Lead on one of our high-profile stakeholder programmes.

Supporting the Procurement Strategy Delivery Lead, you will play a key role in delivering complex projects and transformation initiatives across the programme. Working collaboratively with internal teams and our key stakeholders you will manage the successful delivery of projects that embed sustainable improvements, enhance business performance, and deliver value for patients, customers, and the wider NHS.

Every day you will …

• Be responsible for the effective delivery of assigned projects and initiatives, working closely with the Procurement Strategy Delivery Lead to ensure objectives are clearly defined and achieved within agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.
• Plan, coordinate and manage project activities and initiatives, proactively identifying and managing risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities to ensure successful delivery.
• Coordinate and manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders who feed into projects and initiatives, ensuring timely contributions, effective collaboration and alignment with project objectives.
• Apply appropriate project management methodologies and controls, maintaining robust governance, accurate documentation and clear reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide structured project governance, oversight and reporting to ensure transparency, accountability and informed decision-making.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with cross functional teams and stakeholders at all levels, managing expectations and ensuring clear, consistent communication throughout project delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying recurring themes, capturing lessons learned and implementing actions that enhance efficiency, effectiveness and future project outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with NHS Supply Chain service providers to support the successful delivery of projects contributing to the organisation's modernisation programme.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

• Project delivery - Experience delivering low to medium complexity projects across the full lifecycle within a wider programme.
• Methodology and governance - Understanding of project management methodologies (Agile / Waterfall), with the ability to manage governance, change, and budget.
• Communication and stakeholder management - Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to engage and manage a range of stakeholders.
• Team and supplier coordination - Experience working in matrix environments and coordinating cross-functional teams; with project delivery team management, desirable.
• Considered competent in the use of using software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project (or equivalent project management tool).
• Qualifications and sector knowledge - Relevant PPM qualification or equivalent experience; knowledge of healthcare, supply chain, or change frameworks desirable.
