Job summary

Costain is recruiting a Project Manager to deliver the SPA project across the North Norfolk region. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of Construction Manager, Site Manager, Site Engineers, Design Leads, Planners, QS, enabling coordinators, and the wider project team, applying governance, safety, and cost controls to achieve on-time, on-budget delivery.

Job Description

The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water pipeline and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water's region. As we progress through AMP8, additional scope is expected to be delivered by the Alliance including 240km of new pipeline and infrastructure across the region.

As a key partner, Costain are recruiting for a Project Manager with a sole focus on delivery of projects and programmes across the North Norfolk region. Projects are to be delivered safely, on time, to budget and in-line with quality, environmental, customer requirements and comply with Governance and processes, specifically, Project Management, Health and Safety, Commercial, Risk Value and Opportunity.

The PM will oversee elements of this multimillion project and will be responsible for the project throughout its full life cycle - utilising their team to manage conflicting needs and demands and ensure they are deployed and utilised making the most of their strengths and skills, whilst building and maintaining good relationships with our client in a bid to arrive at 'win-win' outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Create a high performing team environment - a team of Construction Manager, Site Manager, Site Engineers, Design Leads, Construction planners, Quantity Surveyors, Enabling coordinators and the wider project team (who may be co-located or remote)
• Responsible for translating Programme level strategy into actual outcomes
• Ensure project team resources are fully utilised, and performance and output is in line with company performance metrics, dealing with performance issues where they may arise
• Responsible for developing collaborative working relationships with own team, Anglian Water stakeholders and supply chain partners
• Responsible for full project lifecycle from Enabling, construction, project handover, formal sign off and managing any warranty issue that arise post-handover
• Comply with Governance at all levels, supporting Senior PM at governance boards as necessary
• Work closely with the Commercial team to ensure cost forecasts for all projects are maintained to required accuracy and any cost variance mitigated and/or reported as appropriate
• Manage risk and change at scheme level and elevate as required
• Ensure projects are properly planned in P6 and SAP, and that project updates are accurate
• Play a lead role in peer & constructability reviews to ensure promoted solutions are viable from a safety and commercial perspective
• Create an open and collaborative environment
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Health & Safety (H&S), ensuring consistent H&S standards are maintained
• Maintain H&S standards to enable a zero-accident culture

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Previous experience of managing multidisciplinary projects including Civils and MEICA (preferably in the water sector)
• A collaborative leader with proven ability to deliver and manage multi-disciplined work, aligned with SPA strategies in logistics, production, design, assembly, SHEQ, reporting and digital creation.
• Experienced in leading and delivering large scale projects of work including water infrastructure, or large-scale linear projects, and in leading multi contractor, multi-disciplined teams, unifying them into an industry leading delivery team.
• Experience in stakeholder management; including customers, client, site operators, landowners, utility companies and statutory authorities.
• Can demonstrate the ability to outperform against a tight budget through effective programme development, risk and opportunity management and use of production and innovation.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with key client stakeholders, within your team and across the Framework & Costain group
• Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or degree qualified in Civil / MEICA / Construction Management
• SMSTS qualification
• Relevant CSCS card
