Job description

Project Manager - Water Treatment & Nuclear Infrastructure
Location - Suffolk

Are you an experienced Project Manager looking to deliver complex infrastructure on one of the UK's most significant major projects? We're looking for a highly capable Project Manager to take full ownership of the delivery of the Foul Treatment Plant and Potable Water Plant.

This is a major project leadership role with responsibility for taking both facilities through the complete lifecycle - from design and procurement through construction, commissioning and final handover.

If you have delivered complex water, wastewater, utilities, process plant, energy or major infrastructure projects and want to bring that experience into the nuclear sector, this could be an exceptional next step.

The Opportunity

You'll act as the single point of accountability for the successful delivery of the Foul Treatment and Potable Water facilities, leading multidisciplinary teams and managing projects potentially valued from £10m to £100m+.

Working within the wider programme, you'll coordinate engineering consultants, construction contractors, commissioning specialists, commercial teams, supply-chain partners and key project stakeholders.

This is much more than a traditional Project Manager position. You'll have the opportunity to influence design, construction strategy, commercial performance, programme delivery and commissioning while helping deliver infrastructure critical to the successful operation of project.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll lead the project from concept through to operational handover, with responsibility for:

  • Managing the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the Foul Treatment and Potable Water Plants.
  • Developing and delivering the Project Execution Plan.
  • Leading multidisciplinary engineering, commercial, construction and commissioning teams.
  • Managing project budgets, forecasts and expenditure.
  • Driving programme performance and achieving critical milestones.
  • Managing project risks, opportunities, change and interfaces.
  • Overseeing contractor and supply-chain performance.
  • Coordinating civil, mechanical, electrical and process design activities.
  • Leading design reviews, constructability assessments and value-engineering initiatives.
  • Supporting procurement, contract administration and commercial negotiations.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient construction delivery.
  • Leading commissioning, integrated testing and operational-readiness activities.
  • Delivering successful handover to operations and asset-management teams.
  • Providing clear project reporting and presenting performance to senior stakeholders.
  • Ensuring delivery meets the rigorous safety, quality, environmental and regulatory standards expected on a nuclear licensed site.
What We're Looking For

You’ll ideally have at least 5 years' Project Management experience delivering complex projects within sectors such as:

Water | Wastewater | Utilities | Process Engineering | Energy | Nuclear | Infrastructure | Major Construction

You should bring
  • Experience delivering design-and-build projects from concept through construction and commissioning.
  • A strong track record managing multidisciplinary projects valued at £10m+.
  • Experience working within a regulated or highly controlled environment.
  • Strong contractor and supply-chain management capability.
  • Good knowledge of project controls, scheduling, risk and change management.
  • Commercial awareness and confidence managing budgets and contracts.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and leadership skills.
  • The ability to solve complex delivery challenges and make confident project decisions.
  • A sound technical understanding of treatment plant, utilities or process infrastructure.
Qualifications

Ideally, you’ll hold or be working towards Chartered status with a recognised professional institution such as ICE, IMechE, IChemE, IET or APM.

A recognised Project Management qualification such as APM PMQ, APM PQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent would also be expected.

Experience with NEC contracts, commissioning management, environmental management or nuclear quality arrangements would be highly advantageous.

Nuclear Experience?

It's beneficial - but it doesn't have to define your background.

We're particularly interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers who have successfully delivered water treatment, wastewater treatment, utilities or complex process infrastructure and are ready to apply that expertise within a major nuclear new-build environment.

Previous experience with Sizewell C, Hinkley Point C, Sellafield, EDF or another major nuclear programme would be a strong advantage.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical infrastructure on a programme that will shape the UK's energy landscape for decades.

You’ll work on technically challenging projects, collaborate with some of the industry's leading engineering and construction specialists and play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure for one of Europe's most important major construction programmes.

If you're looking for scale, complexity, responsibility and the opportunity to make a genuine impact, we'd like to hear from you.
