Job summary

Sphere Solutions Ltd in Plymouth is seeking a Project Manager to lead MOD contracts, overseeing delivery from inception to completion across multiple sites. You will manage timelines, budgets, and resources while coordinating with stakeholders and teams on security-sensitive defence projects.

Required is an HNC or equivalent in building/civil engineering, plus proven PM/Contracts experience in Construction or M&E.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in Building, Civil Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience as Contracts or Project Manager in Construction or M&E.
• Experience managing construction and property maintenance programmes; MOD experience is a plus.
• Health & Safety qualifications such as SMSTS, IOSH or NEBOSH; Asbestos awareness.
• Strong supply chain management skills and good local industry knowledge.
• Security clearance (or eligibility) due to MOD projects.
• Full UK Driving Licence and proficient IT skills (MS Office; CAFM is a plus).

Responsibilities

Join a leading MOD contractor working on high-profile defence and infrastructure projects across the Plymouth area. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage projects for a trusted national contractor with a reputation for excellence in the defence sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the successful delivery from inception to completion.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring all targets are met.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams to maintain smooth project operations.
• Ensure compliance with MOD security protocols, health & safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Identify and mitigate risks to keep projects on track and within budget.
• Drive continuous improvements and efficiency in project management processes.

Key Requirements (Skills & Experience):

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• HNC or equivalent qualification in Building, Civil Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in a Contracts or Project Manager role within Construction or M&E.
• Experience managing construction and property maintenance programmes. MOD project experience is advantageous.
• Health & Safety qualification such as SMSTS, IOSH, or NEBOSH, plus Asbestos awareness.
• Strong supply chain management skills and good local industry knowledge.
• Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain it) due to the nature of MOD projects.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Excellent IT skills, including MS Office and any experience with CAFM software is a plus.

The role will cover 7 sites in the Plymouth area, and the successful candidate will work from their nearest site. This is not a home based role.
