Job summary

Siemens Mobility in the United Kingdom is seeking a Project Manager to lead part of a major fright loco retrofit project focused on decarbonization and digitalization for Network Rail. You will oversee a delivery team, collaborating with ETCS On Board and Engineering teams to implement ETCS solutions for Freight Operating Companies.

You will manage risks, schedules and budgets while driving safety and environmental compliance across on-site and office activities, and you will report progress to

Qualifications

  • Proven experience of Project Management in a safety oriented industrial environment.
  • Experience with installation and test teams to establish work programmes and tracking progress.
  • Definition and monitoring of key performance indicators.
  • Production of high-quality reports.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors throughout the whole project lifecycle.
  • Strong and effective communicator at all levels within the business and with customers.
  • Experience of leading/participating in programme reviews with supply chain and customer.
  • Experience in rail or similar industry implementing ETCS and/or CBTC systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of specific work packages and support the Senior Project Manager with overall programme delivery.
  • Produce programme updates and monthly reports for internal and external groups.
  • Liaise with customer and Freight operators to ensure requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with ETCS On Board and Engineering teams and other Siemens groups for design and delivery.
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are complied with at all times (on site, in office, when travelling).

The Project Manager will lead part of a major fright loco retrofit project for the UK rail industry, focusing on decarbonization and digitalization for Network Rail. They will oversee a delivery team, collaborating closely with the ETCS On Board and Engineering teams. Responsible for delivering project objectives on quality, costs, and time, they will work with various Siemens teams and suppliers to implement ETCS solutions for Freight Operating Companies.   • Ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are complied with at all time (on site, in the office, when travelling), Promote the safety behavioural culture
  • Taking a lead role in liaison with customer and Freight operators.
  • Responsible for the delivery of specific work packages and support the other Project Managers and the Senior Project Manager with the delivery of the overall Programme
  • Producing programme updates and monthly reports to both internal and external groups
  • Implementing metrics to monitor and report on progress of activities
  • Initiating and facilitating industry wide design reviews and briefings
  • Working closely with the engineering team members in the UK and Germany, project groups, the lines of business and heads of technology throughout Siemens, to ensure that the project design solutions meet our customers’ needs now, and in the future
  • Providing key input and ideas to help determine the most appropriate technical, product and commercial solutions within the given geographical and technical environment.

  • Proven experience of Project Management, ideally in a safety oriented industrial environment, of complex and high profile projects with a APM qualification or similar.
  • Experience of working with installation and test teams to establish work programmes and tracking progress
  • Review project management data for completeness and consistence
  • Definition and monitoring of key performance indicators
  • Production of high-quality reports
  • Experience in managing subcontractors throughout the whole project lifecycle
  • Strong and effective communicator at all levels within the business and in front of new and existing customers
  • Experience of leading/participating in programme reviews with both the supply chain and the customer
  • Proven experience of this type of role within the rail or similar industry of implementing ETCS and/or CBTC systems is desirable
