Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking an Experienced Fleet Performance Engineer (ETCS) to join the Performance team at one of our Thameslink depots in London. You will monitor the fleet, analyse data from multiple sources to identify root causes, and develop prioritized improvement plans to boost reliability and maintenance performance for ETCS systems.

Based at a depot such as Hornsey or Three Bridges, you will support the digital development of on-train and off-train Siemens tools, liaise with

Qualifications

  • Rolling stock experience in performance, technical, design, commissioning, maintenance or operational environments.
  • Experience with Class 700/707/717.
  • Experience of train borne IT and knowledge of train control systems.
  • Experience in a customer-facing environment.
  • The ability to operate and develop spreadsheets and databases.
  • Contract management experience (preferred).
  • Experience of using Rail Attribution Systems (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Investigating all in-service delays and casualties for the fleet.
  • Act as a supporting engineer for the implementation of ETCS BL 3.6.
  • Liaising with internal departments and external suppliers in identifying root cause failures for defect systems and components.
  • Monitor reliability trends in the fleet performance and develop improvement plans and proposals based upon root cause analysis and forecasted improvements.
  • Regular dialogue and meetings with the customer to attribute performance in accordance with the contract.
  • Identifying further opportunities to improve reliability and reduce the life cycle costs of the fleet by application of RCM techniques.
  • Exploit opportunities for the continued development of Siemens digital tools
  • System design: Developing the system architecture, requirements, and specifications for the ETCS system based on customer requirements and safety standards.
  • System integration: Ensuring that all subsystems of the ETCS system work together smoothly and meet the safety and performance requirements.
  • Testing and verification: Conducting tests to ensure that the ETCS system meets safety and performance requirements and providing documentation for verification purposes.
  • System maintenance: Ensuring that the ETCS system is updated and maintained in compliance with safety standards and customer requirements.
  • Communication and coordination: Collaborating with other engineers, stakeholders, and project managers to ensure that the ETCS system is implemented effectively and efficiently.

Fleet Performance Engineer (ETCS)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Performance Engineer (ETCS) to join the Siemens Mobility Performance team located at one of our Thameslink depots in either Hornsey or Three Bridges! This person would be responsible for monitoring the fleet and analising multiple data sources to determine root cause failure of systematic issues and develop prioritised improvement plans to drive maintenance and reliability improvements for the fleet to consistently achieve high levels of performance! The successful person will also play a key role in supporting the digital development of both the on train and off train Siemens tools.
