Job summary

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine invites applications for a part-time Project Manager in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology. The role carries administrative and financial responsibility for vaccine research grants across the UK and Kenya, reporting to the PI and senior staff.

You will manage funders and collaborators, develop external materials, prepare progress reports, oversee PPIE and organise team meetings.

Job description

We have an opportunity for a Project Manager to work in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology. The postholder will have overall administrative and financial responsibility for a series of vaccine research grants, based primarily across the UK and Kenya, including the Health Protection Research Unit in Immunisation.

The postholder will work closely with the PI and senior staff to: manage contractual and budgetary relationships with funders and collaborators; provide expert project management; develop project materials for external communication; prepare technical progress reports with the support of academic staff; advise the PI in the management of staff resources; provide oversight of patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE); and organise and facilitate team meetings.

The postholder must be familiar with funding terms and conditions of a range of funders, including: the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). Additionally, they should have an academic background in public health and/or research experience. Higher education to degree level or equivalent relevant experience is essential.

The post is part-time 21 hours per week, 0.6 FTE and fixed term until 31 March 2030. The post is funded by the NIHR and BMGF and is available from 01 November 2026.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary "Wellbeing Days". Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
