Job summary

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is recruiting a Senior Assistant Project Manager Capital Projects to join the PMO in London. You will work with Business Analysts, IT PMs, and Estates staff to deliver strategic capital projects up to £15M within central London buildings.

The role is full-time (35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE) and permanent. A degree (or equivalent experience) and a background in managing building or refurbishment projects, ideally in higher education, are essential.

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. LSHTM’s Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for delivering all of the organisation’s strategic projects across a wide portfolio and the successful candidate will be joining a close-knit team with diverse skill-sets. You will be working alongside Business Analysts, Business Change PMs, IT PMs, Capital & Estates staff and Process & Project Governance professionals.

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Assistant Project Manager Capital Projects to join the PMO, reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager Capital Projects.

The primary focus of the role will be on managing and delivering key strategic Capital projects up to £15M in value, within operational and listed buildings in Central London, ensuring project plans are effectively delivered and risks, budgets, quality, scope and internal communications are actively monitored and managed.

The post holder will hold an undergraduate degree (or higher) or have demonstrable and relevant practical skills and experience. You will have experience of managing building or refurbishment projects, ideally in an HE environment, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will have experience in working in a APM (Association for Project Management) or Prince2-based project environment and will be expected to champion best project management practice across our organisation.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and permanent.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
