The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, commonly known as Martyn's Law, introduces a legal requirement for certain public premises and events to implement proportionate measures to protect the public from terrorist attacks. Alongside all Higher Education institutions, the University of Sheffield must comply with the legislation and demonstrate compliance to the Security Industry Authority (SIA) as regulator. This will require a significant and fast‑paced programme of change across the University.
Reporting to the Implementation Manager within the CS&S team, the TPoP Project Coordinator will lead and coordinate implementation activity, providing project management support and operational oversight to ensure compliance with the Act. The role requires experience within security, emergency services, emergency planning, business continuity or a related sector, together with an understanding of applying legislation within operational environments.
The successful candidate will provide advice, guidance and awareness across the University community and external stakeholders, helping to develop a strong and embedded security culture. They will possess strong communication and analytical skills, with knowledge of physical security systems including CCTV, access control and PA/VA systems.
The role demands an organised and delivery-focused individual who can manage complex projects to challenging timescales. Responsibilities include coordinating working groups, maintaining action plans, audit records and meeting documentation, and providing assurance and progress reporting at a strategic level.
