Job summary

Airbus Belfast Limited is seeking a Project Engineer (Stress) to lead the structural integrity, airworthiness strategy and regulatory compliance across cutting-edge aircraft development programs. You will provide technical and commercial support to core and subcontract stress engineers, driving design, development and certification of optimized airframe structures.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (BSc/BEng in Mechanical/Aerospace/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent) with 3 years’ relevant Stress Engineering experience OR HNC/HND with 5 years’ relevant Stress Engineering experience.
• Experience of stress analysis for sizing of primary A/C structure in both Metallic and Composite materials.
• Experience in Stress Analysis using classical methods and Finite element Analysis for composite and metallic material.
• Demonstrate experience to support delegation for stress approval of drawings and certification reports.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure to execute stress analysis work packages to support program milestones.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with Engineers at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to teams of core and subcontract stress Engineers working on Structural Stress analysis of Composite and Metallic Structures for Static Strength and Fatigue and Damage tolerance.
• Contribute to all stress activities to support design development and certification activities.
• Support project technical definition, planning and budget.
• Interact with customer and certification authorities to ensure compliance with customer technical requirements and certification regulations.
• Provide technical guidance to stress teams to ensure schedule adherence and technical requirements are met.
• Review and approval of Drawings, DDS and certification reports to meet both technical specification and Certification requirements.
• Liaise with other engineering disciplines (Design, Loads, Materials, Manufacturing and Test Engineers).
• Participate in internal and customer design reviews to deliver optimized airframe structure design that complies with certification requirements.
• Support the approval of development and certification testing specification and test results assessments.
