Job summary

Laing O''Rourke Expanded are recruiting for a Project Engineer to join one of our Great Grid projects in High Marnham, Nottinghamshire. The role supports delivery of key electrical infrastructure projects on the UK grid.

You will utilise Digital Engineering models, ensure temporary works procedures are followed, and manage setting-out and QA processes. The role may involve leading a team of Senior Engineers on project scope.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent (HNC/HND/NVQ4) with construction delivery experience.
• Approximately 8 years of experience in a Civil Engineering role within a construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Utilise a Digital Engineering model to produce Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets.
• Ensure compliance with LOR Management of Temporary works procedures and explain them to others.
• Determine appropriate dimensional control methods and ensure setting-out data is controlled.
• Interrogate and transfer setting-out data from 3D CAD data.
• Define scope of surveys and reports to demonstrate compliance.
• Produce and ensure ITPs are created, available and address specifications and contractual obligations.
• Ensure adherence to project and company quality procedures.
• Utilise and recommend best engineering methods and possess design process knowledge.
• Produce and approve method statements and risk assessments.
• Involved in procurement and potentially manage a team of Senior Engineers.

The Great Grid Upgrade, is building thesignificant new electricity network infrastructure required to reduce the UK's reliance on fossil fuels by connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030. As part of this partnership, we have a requirement on one of the substation projects in High Marnham.

The Expanded Group provides total capability in the early construction phases of major projects, providing an end-to-end solution or a bespoke choice of services. Backed by a central technical design and engineering resource, we can deliver the full range of piling, precast concrete, post-tensioning and structures techniques.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Able to utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information to create Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets. Confidence to show other team members.
• Fully implements and ensures compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects. Explains these procedures to others.
• Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control taking advice from specialists where appropriate. Ensure setting out data is controlled.
• Can interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Determine requirement for and format of as-built surveys and reports. Defines scope of survey to demonstrate compliance.
• Produces and/ or ensures that ITP's are produced, available and implemented. Ensures that they fully address specification and contractual obligations.
• Ensures that project and company quality procedures are adhered
• Utilise and recommend best engineering methods
• Design process knowledge
• Produces and approves method statements and risk assessments

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering , or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
• Circa 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity
