Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Project Engineer (Senior Agent) for a high-value power infrastructure upgrade in the UK. The role covers on-site civil works, design coordination, and delivery of large-scale OLE infrastructure.

Based between Grimsby and the Boston compound, with travel to site locations as required. You will oversee buildability, planning, and contractor management, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Track record delivering major infrastructure projects in Power, Civils, or Rail.
• Strong HSE leadership and safety focus.
• Deep understanding of project lifecycle: scope, schedule, cost, quality.

Responsibilities

• Provide buildability and construction input into detailed design.
• Plan GI and groundworks scheduling and sequencing.
• Clear constraints to enable overhead line construction.
• Install temporary works, haul roads, drainage, and site compounds.
• Manage utility diversions and site access arrangements.

We're looking for a Project Engineer to take the lead on complex technical set up and delivery of critical infrastructure in the Power sector. If you're passionate about delivering technical excellence, driving safety, and managing major infrastructure at scale, we want to hear from you.

You'll provide technical construction of the civil engineering elements to enable large scale OLE infrastructure. Do you have a background in enabling works, Civil Engineering or Structures? If the answer is yes, this could be the role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing buildability and construction input into the detailed design completed by the Lot 1 designers
• Project planning for GI and Groundworks
• clearing the way of all constraints to allow the new overhead lines to be built
• Installing all temporary works, haul roads, drainage, compounds
• Managing Utility diversions

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Track record of delivering major infrastructure projects (Power, Electrification, Civils, Rail, Highways, Wastewater or similar)
• Strong HSE management and leadership capabilities
• Deep understanding of project delivery lifecycle – scope, schedule, cost, and quality
• Effective contractor management and construction knowledge
• Quality management expertise and attention to technical detail
• Temporary Works Knowledge
• Design & Build experience
• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar qualification, including apprenticeship routes, and on-the-job experience

Desirable Experience:

• Transmission Power Projects or Linear Projects
• National Grid Projects experience
• Ground Investigation & Groundworks
