Job summary

Interaction Technical is seeking a Project Engineer – Mechanical Design in Desborough, Northamptonshire. The role focuses on producing detailed 3D/2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for new projects, while leading engineering activities and mentoring junior staff.

You will liaise with sales and projects teams to keep designs within budget, and review existing designs after site installation to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a project engineer within the structural steel industry (essential)
• Proven ability to read and create technical drawings and specifications (essential)
• Knowledge of SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD CAD packages to produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications (advantageous)
• Experience working with sheet metal and fabrication (advantageous)
• Relevant design engineering qualifications (advantageous)
• Team player and collaborative mindset (essential)

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D and 2D drawings and specifications using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for conveyors, structural steel and ancillary equipment on new projects
• Lead projects effectively and provide engineering support to all departments
• Mentor and train other staff to ensure design quality and delivery
• Conduct cost analyses to ensure projects remain cost-effective
• Review and improve existing designs and visit customer sites as required to validate installations

Salary: £45,(Apply online only)-£50,(Apply online only) per annum

Location: Desborough, Northamptonshire

Hours: 8.30-17.00 Mon to Thu, 9.30-17.00 Fridays

Role

• Produce detailed 3D and 2D drawings and specifications using the SolidWorks and AutoCAD packages to produce company products (conveyors, structural steel and ancillary equipment) for brand new projects within the business.
• Liaise with the sales and projects departments to ensure that all projects and plans are within budget and are cost-effective.
• Review and improve existing designs within the business, visiting customer sites where required to see the product you designed once it has been installed to ensure it is working efficiently and effectively.
• To lead projects effectively, providing engineering support to all departments within the projects, mentoring and training other members of staff where required.
• Carry out cost analysis activities within new projects to ensure that all projects carried out are cost-effective.
• Produce documentation where required and follow all company legislation and Health & Safety procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a project engineer within the structural steel industry or similar industries (essential)
• Proven ability to read and create technical drawings and specifications (essential)
• Knowledge of the SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD CAD packages to produce detailed engineering drawing and specifications (advantageous)
• Previous experience working in and around sheet metal and fabrication (advantageous)
