Job summary

White Label Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Project Design Engineer to join an established engineering team in Desborough. This hands-on role takes ownership from concept through design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of conveyors and material handling equipment.

You will develop concepts, produce 3D designs and GA drawings in SolidWorks, run site surveys, manage BOMs in an MRP system and work with project managers and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Around 5+ years' relevant engineering/design experience.
• Strong SolidWorks experience – essential.
• Background designing machinery, conveyors or material handling equipment.
• Experience taking designs from concept/GA through to manufacture.
• Good understanding of BOMs and MRP/ERP systems.
• Practical understanding of how machinery is manufactured, installed and operated.
• Comfortable dealing directly with customers.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop initial concepts into practical engineering solutions.

• Design conveyors, machinery, platforms, walkways and associated equipment.
• Carry out customer site surveys and ensure new equipment integrates with existing plant.
• Produce and manage BOMs using an MRP system.

• Act as a key technical contact for customers.
• Support installation and commissioning on customer sites.
• Take engineering ownership of projects through to completion.
• Projects range from smaller conveyor systems through to major turnkey plant installations lasting 12+ months.

Project Design Engineer

Location: Desborough, Northamptonshire

Salary: £45,000–£50,000 + bonus

Working: Office-based with UK site travel

An established and growing engineering business is looking for an experienced Project / Design Engineer to join its engineering team.

This is a hands‑on engineering role where you’ll take ownership of projects from initial concept and sales handover, through detailed design, manufacture, installation and commissioning.

The Role

What We’re Looking For

Experience with turnkey machinery, production lines, heavy machinery, recycling/waste equipment or plant integration would be particularly relevant.

Structural calculations, FEA and fabrication experience would be advantageous but aren't essential. A degree is also not essential – practical engineering experience is highly valued.
