Job summary

Staff Power Group seeks a Mechanical Engineering professional to manage engineering projects from concept through commissioning. You will coordinate between teams, clients, and contractors, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence.

The role requires a degree or HNC/HND, contract management experience, and knowledge of CDM regulations, with hands-on ability in 2D/3D drawings and Autodesk tools.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HNC/HND.

Responsibilities

  • Control and report on nominated projects from concept to commissioning within the programme and budget.
  • Prepare and present proposals for capital projects with cost justifications and to report progress on current projects.
  • Review technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Liaise with manufacturing functions to ensure projects comply with production requirements and safety standards.
  • Proactive role in identifying process improvements and developing quality, machine efficiency and safety levels.
  • Assess and manage subcontractors for quality, cost and delivery; appoint and control their work to meet factory standards and CDM where applicable.
  • Proficient in general engineering design and able to work with 2D/3D drawings.
  • Use of design software such as Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.

Job Purpose

To manage the technical, operational, and financial aspects of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to technical specifications. Act as the central coordinator between teams, clients, and contractors, applying technical expertise to solve problems, mitigate risks, and ensure site safety and compliance from start to finish.

Job Responsibilities
  • Control and report on nominated projects from concept to commissioning, against an agreed programme and budget, ensuring that projects satisfy the objectives set
  • Prepare and present proposals for potential capital projects with cost justifications and to report progress on current projects
  • Review technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards
  • Liaise with manufacturing functions to ensure that projects comply with the requirements of production and the company's recognised safety standards
  • Proactive role in the identification of process improvements and a resource to develop quality, machine efficiency and safety levels
  • Assess the suitability of potential sub-contractors in terms of quality, cost and delivery. Subsequently to appoint and control sub-contractors ensuring their work meets our factory standards, safety regulations and complies with CDM regulations where applicable
  • Proficient in general engineering design and fully capable in producing and understanding a wide range of 2D and 3D engineering drawings
  • Use of design software such as Autodesk Inventor and Autocad
  • Advise the Purchasing and/or Maintenance Engineering Teams on spares requirements for new plant including anticipated minimum stock levels required
About You
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a HNC/HND with relevant experience
  • Contract management experience
  • Hold knowledge on CDM reqs
  • Proven experience in project management
