Job summary

Optima UK Inc Ltd is seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a fabrication and welding background to join our engineering team in Derbyshire. You will take technical ownership of designated projects from contract review through to manufacture and delivery, acting as the main technical point of contact for customers and ensuring projects meet quality, time and cost targets.

Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality and other internal departments, you will establish

Qualifications

• HNC level or equivalent in engineering.
• Experience in fabrication and welding.
• Project Engineering experience within a fabrication business, ideally in a regulated industry.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and define suitable manufacturing methods.
• Strong technical knowledge of fabricated products, assemblies and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with customers and internal teams.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• CAD experience would be advantageous.
• Organised, methodical and detail-focused, with the ability to work independently and use your own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing customer and internal contracts to ensure all technical and manufacturing requirements are captured.
• Defining manufacturing methods for complex fabricated products and assemblies, including material, subcontract and other production requirements.
• Creating manufacturing routings, route cards, stage drawings, procedures and supporting documentation.
• Providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with manufacturing and other business functions.
• Monitoring project quality, costs and delivery performance to ensure right-first-time results.
• Acting as the main technical contact for customers, resolving technical and quality issues as they arise.
• Supporting customer delivery reviews and attending customer and supplier site visits where required.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to improve processes and reduce waste.
• Ensuring compliance with the company's Quality Management System and supporting the preparation of project documentation packs.
