Job summary

Extension Recruitment is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK. Based near Basildon, you will coordinate activities from planning through to completion and work closely with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.

The ideal candidate will have proven civil engineering or earthworks experience, strong technical knowledge, and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a successful and growing civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK.

The Role

As a Project Engineer, you will:

• Coordinate project activities from planning through to completion.
• Manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
• Work closely with commercial, planning, and HSEQ teams.
• Monitor project progress, risks, and performance.
• Support the delivery of projects against safety, quality, programme, and budget targets.

About You as a Project Engineer

• Proven experience within civil engineering or earthworks projects.
• Strong technical engineering knowledge.
• Experience delivering projects within challenging infrastructure environments.
• Chartered ICE status, or working towards Chartership, would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
